There's a common misconception that you are obligated to allow a boss or supervisor to treat/talk to you any way they please regardless of how disrespectful, unprofessional, or inappropriate it may be, simply because they hold a higher position than you. I'm sorry, but I don't agree. I have never allowed myself to be disrespected for a paycheck and I urge you all to hold yourselves to the same standards. There are millions of jobs in this world and it is not unreasonable for you to request (or demand, if needed) respect. If that request isn't met than you should consider looking for/taking advantage of other opportunities. Bosses/Team Leaders are designed to support the team and help get the job done in the most efficient way possible. That cannot be done if your team doesn't respect you, and it certainly cant be done if you don't respect your team. Making sexiest/racist/homophobic/otherwise disrespectful comments on a daily basis is no way to earn the respect of your team as a person, just as degrading, mocking, humiliating & cussing out your staff is no way to earn the respect of your team as a leader. Any company that doesn't realize this is over looking a fatal flaw in business.
