Republicans have notoriously resisted common sense gun control legislation yet every single excuse Trump gave is related to gun violence. If Mitch McConnell allowed a vote on the floor today for universal background checks it would pass. Trump offered no policy decisions to help curb gun violence, or violence at all, only the deployment of federal officers.
