Not to sound ignorant, but can somebody explain to me the purpose of voting in the Primary? Bernie wasn't far behind Biden but he's officially dropped out of the race so as far as I understand any vote that has been/will be cast for him (or anything other drop-out) is irrelevant. Trump had one contender and has already secured the nomination, obvi. Biden is the only democrat left. The purpose of a primary is only to declare the nominees, is it not?
