I am not at all surprised that McCarthys closed down, in fact... I clocked it months ago & said that they either weren't going to make it to this summer, or that this summer would be their last. (Which seems to be the general consensus.) With that being said, I'm devastated. Not for what it has been, but for what it was. McCarthys was a truly unique place and a staple in the community. I adored every second I spent in that building and although it may sound cheesy, I really built a family there. Hell, my family actually worked there with me! I built relationships, developed skills, and had experiences there that will last a lifetime. It was my favorite job I've ever had, and I will miss it dearly. Although a lot can be said about upper Management, (mainly investors) and I still hold some bitterness, a special nod goes out to Phyllis for being the little Philly Bean we all came to know and love & overall a great boss faced with an impossible task. The building itself is an amazing location and I'm sure it will be up & running again with something more suitable for the community. I'm excited to see & experience whatever it becomes, but to me, and to us... it will always be the good 'ole McBortz On The Bay. I love you guys. Let's please reunite, soon.
