I've seen this all over my Facebook today and I would just like to say that I would be just as outraged as the rest of you if this were true, but there are a few things you have to understand: 1) special instructions/mods to the kitchen have never shown up on a guests final copy of a receipt at any of the many restaurants I have ever worked at. 2) there wouldn't be any need for a special instruction to the kitchen because servers prep your salads for you, including dressings. 3) there are "monkey DISHES" (aka small bowls) that many of your sides come in, and the .50 up charge is probably reflecting this, because a monkey dish is a larger portion than a soufflé cup which dressings normally come in. 4) This just doesn't make any sense.
